Our local high school teachers and coaches have expressed a need for leadership development with the students. To help meet this need, FBC Manchester is sponsoring a Servant Leadership Program for Manchester High School!

Each year there will be two cohorts - a Spring Cohort and a Fall Cohort. We will take applications for each Cohort for students to attend the initial 6-week program. Once a student has completed the program, they will be encouraged to attend monthly meetings to keep developing their leadership skills and to encourage other students in the program!

Application Process

To be considered for the Servant Leadership Program, a student must turn in a completed application.  A completed application includes the application form itself, a self-assessment, and three letters of recommendation from a Manchester High School faculty/staff member.

All application items can be accessed through GoogleDrive via your school email account:

Completed applications for the Spring 2024 Cohort are due on February 9, 2024.

Servant Leadership Program

What is the Servant Leadership Program?
Participating in the Servant Leadership Program allows you the opportunity to learn more about yourself, about leadership skills, and more specifically, how to take your strengths and personality to become the best leader you can be. This program focuses on honing leadership skills within a “people first” mentality where you will learn to prioritize the growth, well-being, and empowerment of those you lead.

What kinds of things will I learn and do in the Servant Leadership Program?
In this program, you will spend time both taking and understanding personality assessments to better understand yourself and how you lead others. You will also be taught how others need to be led since we all have different personalities that respond to various types of leadership. This program will also talk about different types of leaders that exist and how you can lead others by example. Opportunities will also be provided throughout the program to serve our community in tangible ways to truly help make you a Servant Leader.

What dates must I attend to participate in the Servant Leadership Program?
We will meet once a week for 60 minutes for a total of six weeks.

The Spring 2024 Cohort dates are as follows:
Tuesday, March 5
Thursday, March 7
Tuesday, March 12
Thursday, March 14
Tuesday, March 19
Thursday, March 21

**NOTE: Dates are a bit different for this cohort due to adoption travel.**

It is expected that you will be at each of the six meetings when applying for this cohort. Additionally, there will be a meeting once a month at 3:30 p.m. that you will be expected to attend to continue developing your leadership skills and encouraging others in the program.

What do I have to do to apply for the Servant Leadership Program?
You must make sure that you complete all steps of the application to be considered for the Servant Leadership Program. You must include the following:
- Completed Application
- Completed Assessment
- Two letters of recommendation from Manchester High School faculty/staff

What benefits does a student receive from being a part of the Servant Leadership Program?
All students who complete the Servant Leadership Program will be able to add this accomplishment to their resume for applying to both school and jobs. Additionally, a scholarship opportunity exists for a selected student each calendar year! Furthermore, the Servant Leadership Program is a great opportunity to establish one’s identity as a leader and build positive relationships with other future leaders in our community.
